Spring 2018
Hancock Museum Educational Visit
Class One travelled to Newcastle to visit the the Hancock Museum. We took part in an animal classifying workshop, sorting animals in to different groups. We looked closely at the skulls of different animals and found out if they were carnivores or herbivores by looking at their teeth. We became habitat explorers and found out facts about animals from around the world and animals from our local area. We even saw the skeleton of a tyrannosaurus rex!!!
Snow Fun!!
Outdoor Learning
Class One love learning outdoors. We put on our outdoor clothes to keep us clean and dry. We go out in all weathers and seasons because it keeps us active and healthy. We solve problems, use our imagination and enjoy exploring our environment.
Autumn 2017
Pet Week!
We have been talking about our pets. What kind of pets we have and how we look after them. Some of our very kind parents brought our pets to school so our friends could find out more about them. We had a visit from a baby tortoise, a hen and two chihuahua puppies.
Christmas Stay and Play
We really enjoyed our Christmas stay and play in class one. Lots of parents came and worked with their children to create Christmas craft masterpieces. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that came along and joined in with our Christmas fun.

Summer Term 2017
The Big Sing
We visited the Sage Gateshead to take part in a musical concert with other schools from our area. We sang songs about life in the garden and danced along to music played by some musicians. We all joined in and had great fun.
Visit to Washington Wetlands Trust
We went to Washington Wetlands Trust to explore and learn about ponds. We did some pond dipping and found many amazing creatures hidden in and around the pond. We loved looking at the different sizes and shapes of the creatures and had a competition to see who could find the biggest Great Diving Beetle. We also had time to play in and explore the park.
Spring Term 2017
World Book Day
Goldilocks came to visit us in Class 1 to help us to celebrate World Book Day. She told us about an adventure she had while walking in the woods. We told her that we thought it was a bad choice to break into someone’s house and steal porridge and in future she should ask her mummy if she wanted something to eat. Goldilocks said she was very sorry and she wouldn’t do it again.
Shrove Tuesday
Class One had fun with pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. The children read and retold the story of the Enormous Pancake and took part in the sponsored pancake flip. They had great fun making pancakes in the afternoon. They enjoyed mixing the ingredients together and watching Mrs Dobson flip the pancakes in the pan. They tried different toppings on their pancakes and really enjoyed eating them.
RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch
This weekend is the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. The children have been learning about garden birds in class and can name and describe many of the birds found in our gardens. Some of the children have made their own bird feeders which are now hanging in the school grounds. So far, we have seen great tits, blue tits, chaffinches and even a great spotted woodpecker using them.
Chinese New Year
We have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have made and given our lucky red envelopes, listened to Chinese stories and have tasted Chinese food. We all tried very hard to eat our noodles with chopsticks but it was very tricky!
Autumn Term 2016
Thank you to all of the parents who supported our Christmas stay and play. We had a lovely time drinking hot chocolate and creating beautiful Christmas decorations. We raised approximately £60.00 for the class fund through our Christmas raffle.
Despite the weather getting colder, the children have been excited about exploring and learning outdoors.
We have been exploring Autumn and investigating all of the delicious seasonal treats that can be found during this season. We celebrated harvest time by making some delicious pumpkin soup.
